A Journey to Conscious Thinking

Hello perceivers.

So I’ve talked quite a bit about how thinking excessively is detrimental to us in several ways. But, in stating and elaborating immensely on such a controversial topic and considerably sized claim, I was referring to a specific aspect, form, or category of the idea of thoughts. I would classify it as the area in which we think everyday. I’m referring to the rush of random thoughts that consume our minds daily and leave us feeling disconnected from the world and the moment we are in. The unfortunate thing is that we may not even realize our thoughts are disconnecting us from the present moment because we are so used to it. It’s arduous to have to perceive the notion that we could be much more present in our lives if we didn’t think so many irrelevant thoughts throughout it.

Yes, I claim all of this and I concede with it, of course. But what if I told you that thinking is also necessary? As I introduce this concept, I’m not at all contradicting myself and that should be understood as you continue reading. But in a preview, when I say that thinking is, indeed, necessary, I’m now referring to a distinct category of thoughts. The type of thinking I want to discuss here is a category including awakened and opened minds. What I mean by this is the possession of a heightened awareness of our selves, surroundings, society, earth, and universe all together. Possessing this heightened awareness separates a being from a category of people I’d just call ignorant, close-minded, or oblivious. It allows us to be and think above society and its norms while understanding the blurred lenses inflicted upon us that have left us roaming the earth under the clouds and without question.

And without question is where we are flawed.

All of us victim, we fail to lift our eyes and our heads to the sky to wonder.

And this is what leaves us ignorant. For lack of a better term, I’ll be using ‘ignorant’ a lot. And I’d like to disclaim before anyone takes it to their weak heart (jk) that I don’t mean any bias or shade towards anyone. The only purpose of my writings is to open minds and allow for higher level understandings as well as more comfortable lives. Everything is a journey. Here, my only hope and intention is to take people on one, a magnificent one, to becoming the most present, aware, comfortable, and successful versions of themselves through extended and provoking discussion.

Please try not to feel offended or targeted through my writing, even if you feel that I’m describing you. That just means you’re the perfect person to be reading this. I want you to read with a conscious and open mind. Don’t be afraid to let it think outside your comfort zone because once that starts to happen, it means you’re doing everything right. You’re wondering and your thoughts are working to your benefit. You’re awakening. Are you ready?

So… how can thinking be good and bad?

Well, such an idea is true because the good aspect of thinking lies in one type of thinking while the bad lies in another. Once one begins to explore the realms of a world outside their comfort zone, thinking, indeed, can be beneficial.

If I were to hold your hand and guide your thinking, you would have many questions… and the minute questions begin trickling in is the minute you begin losing your quality of ignorance.

When I think of ignorance, I think of submission. Someone who is ignorant submits. They submit to everything around them and accept their surroundings as is. They fully adapt to a belief system that was practically forced upon them with refusal to doubt it. This results in someone who lacks the ability to think for themselves. This is my illustration of ignorance.

If I were to ask an ignorant person why they so firmly believe and trust… say their religion, they would proudly admit that they were brought up as such and have no reason to think otherwise. Ill then ask if they’d ever looked into any other religions and they would say that it wouldn’t make sense to because they knew they were right. I’m sure the pure ignorance is vivid here.

I have no idea who Isaiah Kazimoff is, but I have a quote from him.

โ€œOne of the saddest aspects of life now is that Science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.โ€

I believe this illustrates our lack of opened eyes. We don’t pay attention to much and we don’t prioritize or put to great use the power of our magnificent and complex brains. Scientists sure know how, though.

Why don’t we replicate their speedy studies and active curiosity in our society? And within ourselves?

It is such a wonderful thing to be able to break away from such a degrading quality and allow one’s self to roam free.

I think it’s funny how I was just screaming about the destructiveness of thinking and now I’m about to scream at you to think.

Now THINK!

When I say this, I’m meaning to put out that you should never give yourself permission to blindly agree with everything! First of all, not everything you’re exposed to is true. Second, this quality of simple-information-acceptance makes you a sheep. And a sheep in a very large herd of other sheep who “think” just like you.

Can you find yourself in this gif? I think I see you there on the far left.

And you’re running from me because here I come in an attempt to get you out of this ignorant sheep prison! Why are you afraid?

Is it the thought of having to think for yourself? If that’s the issue than you just made it clear to yourself that you’re a lazy thinker and that’s typically accompanied by a lazy lifestyle and a totally unsuccessful and hopeless future. What will you gain out of 0 effort?

Don’t be a sheep for your sake. Be a god.

An incredible tool in becoming a wise thinker is experience. Having experiences under your belt welded with risks is wisdom. And experiences derive from curiosity. Curiosity is a massive component in any talk of wisdom or non-ignorance. Oh, how critical of a characteristic it is people.

The great Alan Watts once observed…

“…a great occasion is somehow spoiled for us unless photographed and to read about it the next day in the newspaper is oddly more fun for us than the original event.”

So, Mr. Watts… you’re really claiming that instead of experiencing an event first-hand and in the moment, we’d prefer rather to hear about it through the news in the aftermath?

Are there truer words?

And tell me this isn’t the least bit disappointing about us.

Basically what Watts wants to bring to our attention is the idea that we wait for others to bring us information. We rely on the outside to do all the dirty work while we sit back in our recliners and wait for information to find us. This is one major interpretation, but Watts is also describing our inability to appreciate the present time and this inability does, in fact, lead to ignorance.

What separates the wise man from the ignorant one is that desire to be present in the moment of say event versus the simplicity of reading about it in the newspaper prior to it. Seek the information yourself, right?

Be that person who enjoys the original event rather than the newspaper one.

This is not to say reading about events following their occurrence is frowned upon. Absolutely not. Reading is an incredible tool that should be put to use at every given chance.

Moving on from one sad truth to another, why are we so afraid to make moves on our surroundings? What is stopping us from wanting to know every last bit of information this universe has to offer?

Ask questions and look stupid doing it! Go out and explore something your unsure about and in your own way. How did Einstein figure out that math thing where e=mc with a 2 hanging off the c? He discovered something that the letter E is equal to that nobody had ever known. Wise!

Be that type of person and I promise a whole new wave of respect will come your way.

You can be one of 2 ignorants. There’s the know-it-all’s and the I-don’t-care’s. They’re both easily detectable and equally ignorant. The know-it-all’s will project themselves expressively and with all of their firm beliefs about various topics. Either this, or they will state “facts” that are, more accurately, just lies or exaggerated news based off of their brief 30 second interaction with Fox News as they walked passed their television. Bafoonery.

The I-don’t-care’s simply don’t care enough about knowledge or any of the goings on around them to give time to learning anything. They’re your friends that spend the majority of their hours smoking weed and not knowing why. They don’t read. They probably binge Netflix or video games on the daily (sorry for being so loud; Iโ€™m even taking offense to this). And they’re also the people that you can’t stand talking to because the topic is either gossip or negativity. One of them will be talking about how ugly their boyfriend’s ex is and another will be mourning over their shitty life. If any of this sounds familiar about any of your friends, drop ’em. If this sounds familiar about yourself, do the same and grab a new, more mindful self for a change.

It is not only these contemplation thoughts I am, to a measure, giving rise to in you, but also thoughts and attention towards yourself. Do you know yourself? Take a moment to take in what kind of person you are. Understand your soul and your mind. Observe your actions and your behavior. How else could you ever improve yourself? Being more observant of yourself, you’re able to identify aspects within you that you aren’t happy with or that you’d like to improve.

If something mattered most to you in your life, it should be your self. You were born with your self. You wake up everyday and go to sleep every night with your self. You will depart from this earth with… guess who? Your self. Youโ€™re never not with your self. With that being said, itโ€™s critical that you look after your self as well as observe and understand your self to the best of your ability. This requires a large amount of awareness.

Practice: Stay as conscious as possible for as long as possible whenever you can remember to be. Continue until you notice a consistency in this state of consciousness (where you are present, observant, and aware). Take note of where your mind drifts to, how you handle certain situations, what you do in your free time, your subconscious interests… pay attention. Learn about your self and this will burst open doors into a dimension where you can alter your being and become exactly who you want to be. Any changes you want to make about your self or your life can be made once you can fathom your self fully.

What complaints do you have about your self or your life? Keep them in mind and take into account that you can eliminate these complaints by making small changes within you.

I feel that, or, hope that, my point is coming across. No need to extend to any deeper levels of this. But my top wish is someone, or more than so, will read this and understand that life, and our world, is too precious and utterly packed with information waiting to be discovered, learned, and communicated to mess around and waste the limited time we have here. Don’t be a bum, put your juul down, get off your ignorant ass and get moving in this world of principal ideas. Make a name for yourself. Be that person that people run to just to have a sophisticated conversation with. I’m telling you I cannot stand having to speak with idiots. I can try and be patient because I do love everyone and I believe we all deserve equal attention and affection, of course, but… still. Be the person that intimidates others with crazy, out-of-this-world kind of thoughts and questions.

And most importantly, again, don’t settle for everything you’re exposed to. Confirm your information if possible before going around and spitting things as if you know they’re true.

Oh, and please, question our government (just a thought really, or somewhere you can start). Question why they operate a certain way. Question the possibility that needing your fingerprint and face to unlock your iPhone may be more than just a convenience to you. Question why when you discuss something through physical interaction, the same topic pops up in the form of an advertisement when you open Facebook. Algorithms? Hm.

Just think. In this way. Not negatively! But in a way that benefits you and potentially others. And gain wisdom just like this.

โ€œKnowledge comes, but wisdom lingers. It may not be difficult to store up in the mind a vast quantity of facts within a comparatively short time, but the ability to form judgements requires the severe discipline of hard work and the tempering heat of experience and maturity.โ€

-John Calvin Coolidge

Donโ€™t know this guy either, but heโ€™s very insightful! Take something from this, go home, and act on it, perceivers. โค
